it's 10:38 am. sippin' my coffee. having an absolute perfect morning.

meditated. walked. read. wrote. gave thanks. sitting here in my lil open air living room - covered in the sounds of soft, rustling trees, distant scooters, and the occasional bark.

life is moving all around....

but inside these 4 concrete walls?

peace.

pure peace.

i was just reading one of my favorite books as of late – Working With the Law by Raymond Holliwell – and i read something that really touched me.

it reminded me of this simple,

yet profound truth:

“for whoever will save his life will lose it. whoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him two”.

whoever will find himself great must render great service.

i think so many times we think we’re working to save ourselves.

to become ‘rich’, to get, to take, to receive…

but in reality, when we think like this –

we have it all backwards.

sure, we’d probably find that with enough willpower and determination, we can in fact ‘make it’…

money. material possessions. knowledge.

but we’d end up losing the very thing that makes us feel alive.

we’d lose people we love. we’d lose our passion. we’d lose our soul.

the truth is,

living a great life isn’t about being selfish. it’s about being selfless. it’s about giving our lives to something bigger than us. to be of service.

it’s like trying to fill your cup by taking from everyone else’s cup around you.

sure, you might fill it, but you’ll leave everyone around you feeling empty.

when if instead,

you focus on filling everyone else's cup…

God, other people, and life will continue to pour into yours.

so no –

this doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing to desire wealth, freedom, or abundance –

it just means that the path towards getting it might look different than what you think.

instead of asking:

what can i get?

start asking:

how much of me can i give?

and only then,

maybe everything will actually start to flow.

that’s it.

just some philosophical truths for you on this fine Monday morning.
